Calling all football fans! We’ve got some great news for you. The extra good news? It’s free to access for TV Virgin Media customers!
Do you live for football? Here’s everything you need to know about Virgin Media Sport:
Give me the details:
Customers will have access to over 400 of the very best European club football matches on one dedicated platform, coming live from a new, purpose-built Virgin Media Sport studio.
Virgin Media Sport will broadcast all UEFA Champions League matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays along with UEFA Europa League on Thursdays.
The traditional Tuesday UEFA Champions League match will remain free-to-air on Virgin Media One (formerly TV3), which will also broadcast the Champions League and Europa League finals.
Get ready for some familiar faces on Virgin Media Sport!
Republic of Ireland legend Niall Quinn will join longstanding UEFA Champions League pundits Graeme Souness and Kevin Kilbane in live coverage, presented by Virgin Media Television’s Tommy Martin.
The broader presentation team will also include former Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr; former Republic of Ireland international Keith Andrews; and presenter Niamh Kinsella.
Never miss a match again
Virgin Media customers are also assured they won’t miss a single match. You’ll be able to record, replay, pause and watch archived matches and footage on demand.
You’ll also be able to use the TV Anywhere App and you’ll be able to simply press start-over during any live match (which brings you right back to kick-off time). A handy feature, no doubt, if you miss the start of any match!
I don’t have a Virgin Media TV package, can I still get access to Virgin Media Sport?
Virgin Media TV customers will be able to access Virgin Media Sport at no additional cost to their current monthly subscription.
If you’re a customer of one of Virgin Media’s other services such as mobile or broadband, you’ll also be able to access Virgin Media Sport and all live matches through the Virgin Media TV Anywhere App for free for the first two months, then at a reduced rate of €10 a month thereafter.
Sports fans who are not currently Virgin Media customers also don’t have to lose out. The Virgin Media TV Anywhere App will guarantee fans access to top-class football, ensuring they stay up to date with their teams throughout the tournament. The service will be available for €20 per month on a 30-day contract.
Virgin Media and TV3
In case you missed it, Virgin Media recently bought and took over TV3 and later this month we’ll see TV3, 3E and Be3 rebrand to Virgin Media One, Two and Three, in addition to adding Virgin Media Sport to its channel lineup.
On the subject of Virgin Media Sport’s launch, Paul Farrell, Vice President of Commercial, Virgin Media said, “Virgin Media Sport is the new home of European Football in Ireland. It’s going to be an exciting season on and off the pitch with our top panel of pundits providing in-depth local analysis and opinion exclusively for our customers.
Our investment in Virgin Media Sport reinforces our position as Ireland’s leading connected entertainment provide and what better way to celebrate this than providing our new channel at no extra cost to our Virgin Media TV customers?”
Virgin Media also recently launched some of the most competitively priced tripleplay bundles on the market. They're currently offering customers a discount of €40 a month off the standard price of their superfast broadband, home phone and TV bundles for an entire year. That’s an annual saving of €480!
