Bord Gáis Energy offering 33% discount on electricity

Bord Gáis Energy is offering a whopping 33% discount on its electricity to new customers, which equates to a unit rate of just over 24 cent including VAT.

To get this new offer you must pay by direct debit and agree to online billing but that’s pretty much standard these days.  

The contract is for one year and it’s a variable tariff. After the year is up, you’ll roll over onto a 5% discount. Or you can switch again to a new deal with a different supplier.

What happens if prices fall?

Thankfully it looks like the worst of the energy crisis is over. 

Since last September, Bord Gáis Energy has cut its energy prices two times, and given where wholesale prices currently are, it’s highly likely it will drop its prices again over the coming weeks.  

As this is a variable-rate offer, if Bord Gáis Energy does reduce its prices later this year then you’ll benefit from this reduction as well. Your 33% discount will continue and will be applied to the new, lower standard rate.
